Fond farewell to Indy
“Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone. The future is not guaranteed.” - Dr. Wayne Dryer
Dear friends,
It is with a touch of sadness that I’m announcing that I’m leaving Indianapolis. I have truly enjoyed my time in Indy – largely because of the friendships I’ve made with you. I’ve enjoyed many musicals, films, commercials, and ComedySportz shows and have enjoyed each and every one because of the people I’ve worked with. You’ve all been wonderful to work (and play) with. I’ve received so much love and support from our community that I will be forever grateful. Thank you so much!
However, we all have to make tough decisions and take risks in the hope of gaining something more than what we have. I’ve made the choice to leave the relative normalcy of everyday life and pursue the crazy world of acting as a profession. Those of you who know me know that I’ve always been one to “dream the impossible dream,” but this time I’ve determined that I must attempt to achieve this dream – for if I don’t, I will always regret not taking a chance to make the dream real. Thus, at the end of this year, my family and I will be moving to Los Angeles.
“First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.” - Epictetus
So, I’ve derived a plan of attack based on Southpark’s Underwear Gnomes’ plan:
1) Move to Los Angeles.
2) ?
3) Profit!
Ha! OK, not really. I actually plan to continue doing software projects out of our home in Santa Clarita while I work to build up a base of entertainment industry contacts and an agent as quickly as possible. I’m taking everything one step at a time, and trying everything possible to minimize the risk to my family. Yes, it’s a risk… but a calculated one – and one that I know I’ll get through with a little help from my friends. (Speaking of which, if you have paid software, web, or (especially) acting projects, let me know!)
It’s an exciting time, friends! Thank you for helping make this possible! I’ll keep an occasional eye on what’s going on in Indy with my friends, so please stay in touch as well…. my contact information is on my website. And, of course, please support my acting work when I get it!
Best wishes and break a leg,
Scott
