Casting call makes local news

Last weekend I went to a casting call at MagicHouse Productions in Logansport, IN for the spy thriller “Plausible Deniability.” I was grabbed for a quick interview after the audition and a couple of my comments ended up in the local paper.

No, the role hasn’t been cast yet. But I’ll let you know if I’m offered and accept the role!

ComedySportz!

I have some fantastic news!

I just finished up another Level 3 workshop session at ComedySportz University and we had our final class performance as usual last Tuesday. But this time, Ed Trout (ComedySportz Indianapols Artistic Director/Owner - and teacher of the Level 3 class) extended me an offer begin attending their actual performance rehearsals!

That’s right, I’m now within striking distance of hitting the ComedySportz stage for real! Hot boogity! I’m excited!

Now the real training begins.

Could you eat for $21/week?

Check out this blog (see the sidebar for links to days 1 - 7):

Day 1 of the Food Stamp Challenge

Congressman Tim Ryan of Ohio tried to eat for a week on the average Food Stamp ration for a week ($21!). Wow. Huge kudos to him! I have a hard time even fathoming this. And he was doing pretty well until the TSA took away his peanut butter and jelly at the airport!

Yes, of course it’s a publicity stunt. But it’s the best possible kind of publicity stunt. Can you imagine if all of our congressmen and women would give this kind of consideration to what the working poor have to endure? (And this includes our troops!) Our country would be a far better place.

The Scarlet Pimpernel is coming soon!

Now is the time to begin making plans to see the next production at The Belfry: The Scarlet Pimpernel!

A tragic love triangle is set against the backdrop of the French Revolution as a disguised Englishman wages his own personal war against injustice. From the composer of Jekyll and Hyde, a moving pop musical adventure that celebrates the triumph of the human spirit. Friday and Saturday performances are 8:00 PM June 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 and Sunday performances are 2:00 PM June 10, 17.

Reservations are required. Call 773-1085 anytime.

Wrapped A Time For The Heart, too

Scott Ganyo as Rev. Dan Hoffman

I almost forgot to blog this! I wrapped shooting on Chris Allen’s new flick, “A Time For The Heart” a week ago. I had great fun performing as Rev. Dan Hoffman - my most pious role to date!

The Secret

Seems folks these days are in love with the film “The Secret”. As it turns out, it doesn’t require a $35 DVD to understand the secret. As explained by Petrea Burchard, the secret boils down to this:

“Ask, believe, ACT, receive”

Be grateful for what you have and what’s to come. Gratitude is first.

Think positively. Love yourself. Don’t waste energy thinking you’re a loser, ’cause frankly, you know best. And while you’re at it, be nice to others, because the universe pays dividends to do-gooders.

Visualize what you want to achieve. Picture being who you want to be, doing what you want to do, and having what you want to have.

Then–and this is key–do the work. No matter how clearly you visualize your OscarĀ® speech, you still have to make the movie and run the ad campaign.

It’s nothing revolutionary, yet often we do fail because we don’t decide what we want, believe in our abilities, and work toward our goals. Or, as Epictetus so eloquently put it back around 100 AD:

First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.

There’s nothing secret about that.
