Back in the news: ST v Batman

Another glowing review of the Star Trek Vs. Batman fanfilm hits the streets, this time from Fan Cinema Today:

Allen’s production, however, has good costumes, great props (the Batmobile!), respectable Trek sets, varied acting and a surprisingly decent script–and yet, it gleefully rolls around in its own absurdity.

So long as you’re not going to get all purist on it, BVST is a fairly amusing way to see the Caped Crusader go where no (Bat)man has gone before.

Full review here.

And I just dig that logo they made, too!

Are you responsible for Chicago’s loss?

This article is just amazing to me:

“Rationally, you should not feel responsible at all for the outcome of the Super Bowl,” Pronin said. “But the more people perceived themselves as having thought about the game, the more they thought themselves responsible for the game’s outcome.”

So… I hate to break it to you, but “pulling for your team” doesn’t help them play better.

Oh, and by the way: Congratulations, Colts! I was pulling for you.

Some possibly good new for Indiana film

Via Inside Indiana Business:

(STATEHOUSE) Feb. 8, 2007 – Representative Phil Hinkle (R-Indianapolis) has co-authored House Bill 1388, which would provide a rebate or tax credit on the production of movies or television shows. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 82-15. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) would distribute any rebates to companies doing business in Indiana.

“I believe that ultimately this will be a major economic boost to our state,” said Rep. Hinkle. “Indiana has beautiful scenery all over that many Hollywood studios would like to use. This would provide extra incentives to bring new industry to Indiana.”

Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) currently airs “Close to Home”, a drama set in Indianapolis. This bill would encourage the production company to do actual filming within Indiana.

In addition to providing a rebate or tax credit on movies and television shows, the bill would include the production of music videos, music albums, and commercials.

I’m hoping they’re right and the state senate agrees. It would be nice to see more television and film work end up in Indiana.

Say no to Vista

Apparently Bill Gates has finally lost his mind and has now resorted to out-and-out lying about Apple as a way to make Vista look better.

My advice? Pass on Microsoft Vista and go straight to the system that Microsoft is so desperately trying to copy: Apple’s OS X. Why?

  • It’s more productive
  • It’s more secure
  • You’ll increase competition and benefit our capitalistic society
