Crime in Indiana

From a local television station story:

Greenwood Police are hoping someone will recognize a man caught by security cameras. Police say he robbed the Circle K on Main Street.

Officials say after the clerk handed out all of the cash from the register, the suspect “tipped” the clerk a $20 bill, saying it was for his trouble.

Yup. That’s the way it is in Indiana.

Star Trek Vs. Batman in the Star

The press just keeps rolling in, folks. Today’s Indy Star has an article about out show as well:

Festivals pick ‘Trek/Batman’

Skewering and parodying, it seems, have become hallmarks of Indiana filmmakers.

There was Gary Wood’s “Saving Star Wars,” with its local George Lucas look-alike (George Starkey) and “Open Mic’rs” starring Dave Dugan, and now “Star Trek vs. Batman,” a comedy by Logansport’s Chris Allen, filmed at Magic House Productions.

Allen, who showed the film Saturday at the Greenbriar Cinema Grill, says three things made those other shows great: “Phasers, fighting and hot women.”

Whether “Star Trek vs. Batman” has all three is yet to be seen. We can say there’s a romance between Capt. Kirk and Catwoman, and a time-warp that takes “Trek” characters to 1967.

The cast of Midwesterners includes Joshua Ramsey, Scott Ganyo, Leo Barczewski, Daniel Bought, Gavin Rulon and Victoria Floro.

The fan film has been accepted at Chicago Tardis (www.chicagotardis.com) and the Maple Valley Digital Film Festival (http://film.maplevalley wa.com) in Seattle next April.

For the record, I was in two out of three of the shows she mentions (also Open Micr’s) and I know at least one person that was in all three!

By the way, Chris Allen says that the final part of the trilogy will be available tomorrow (Nov. 18) on his website. So, if you can’t make the film festival showing, you’ll be able to see it all here.

Star Trek VS. Batman reviewed

Howdy again! Well, the premier was fantastic! The theatre was packed for the first showing, and although I couldn’t stay for the second showing, as far as I could tell it did very well also! It was great seeing old friends there again - of course not everyone in the cast and crew could make it, but most did and had a good time.

This was, in fact, the first time I’d seen all three parts of the film, and I really enjoyed it! In fact, it was even better than I anticipated it would be. The gags translated well, the scenes were fun, and although there were some small technical issues - the overall feel was very fun! And the kids in the audience just loved it!

So… I’d high recommend seeing it. But then again, I’m an actor in it… so don’t just take my word for it. The film also received a positive review on a local board:

But even if you don’t read the full review, I just have to repeat one paragraph here:

Scott Ganyo as Batman is a must see in this film and he is aided well by Daniel Boughton as Robin. The on screen chemistry of this team is just as dynamic as the actors who made us laugh in the original series. They deliver probably the funniest moment of the film in part II when Ganyo does an impressive monologue.

Wow. Thanks! I’m just really proud that I was able to bring fun and laughter to our viewers.

Make sure you save your pennies for a DVD copy. Chris will be selling them for $15. I’ll let you know when they are available to order!

Star Trek VS. Batman Premier!

What a horrible oversight! I just realized I haven’t promoted the Star Trek Vs. Batman premier event on this site! So, here’s the deal:

Yes, you read correctly: Star Trek Vs. Batman will premiere in its entirety (all 3 action-packed episodes!) at the Cinema Grill this Saturday, November 11! (more information here).

That’s right! This Saturday at 6:30pm and 8:45pm, you will have a chance to see this fun spoof of your favorite 1960’s TV shows on the BIG screen - and even meet members of the cast and crew while there!

So check out the trailer, make plans to come see the film, and be sure to save those pennies to order DVD copies for yourself and your friends!

Audition woes

There are a number reasons I like Wil Wheaton: But I really appreciate that he’s able to lay himself out on the line in his blog. I envy his willingness and ability to communicate his feelings so clearly in story form. He is both a well-known actor and writer, and yet when I read his blog, I feel like he’s a friend and I feel his pain along with him.

As an actor, I too have had those horrible audition moments that he so eloquently describes here. It is so deeply painful to know that you are better than what you displayed, that you do better than you did, and yet be so completely impotent to correct that moment that is now seemingly indelibly linked to you.

So, I’m just posting this in support for you, Wil. Keep going, man. This will pass. You are better than you feel right now. And you are an inspiration for me. Thanks.
