To Haunt You Again

Just a quick update on this film: We finished the shoot and all went very well. I totally went with a whole Magnum, P.I. look for my Detective Morency. Very fun.

I really enjoyed working with Eric Bryant, James Mannan, and Robin Panet and I’m eager to see the results.

In the mean time, though, at least my acting credit is now up on the website. w00t! :-)

This is funny because it’s true

From Joel on Software:

Watching non-programmers trying to run software companies is like watching someone who doesn’t know how to surf trying to surf.

“It’s ok! I have great advisors standing on the shore telling me what to do!” they say, and then fall off the board, again and again.

Management is not just about herding people…

Save NPR and PBS (again)

Please consider signing this petition from MoveOn.org. Especially in today’s environment of political media control and propaganda, we simply can’t afford to lose such important institutions in this country.

Hi,

Everyone expected House Republicans to give up efforts to kill NPR and PBS after a massive public outcry stopped them last year. But they’ve just voted to eliminate funding for NPR and PBS—unbelievably, starting with programs like “Sesame Street.”

Public broadcasting would lose nearly a quarter of its federal funding this year. Even worse, all funding would be eliminated in two years–threatening one of the last remaining sources of watchdog journalism.

Sign the petition telling Congress to save NPR and PBS again this year:

http://civic.moveon.org/publicbroadcasting/

Last year, millions of us took action to save NPR and PBS, and Congress listened. We can do it again if enough of us sign the petition in time.

This would be the most severe cut in the history of public broadcasting. The Boston Globe reports the cuts “could force the elimination of some popular PBS and NPR programs.” NPR’s president expects rural public radio stations may be forced to shut down.

The House and Senate are deciding if public broadcasting will survive, and they need to hear from viewers like you. Sign the petition at:

http://civic.moveon.org/publicbroadcasting/

Thanks!

Truth

Roger Ebert’s review of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” is uniquely poignant and includes this admonition to go see the movie:

This is not a boring film. The director, Davis Guggenheim, uses words, images and Gore’s concise litany of facts to build a film that is fascinating and relentless. In 39 years, I have never written these words in a movie review, but here they are: You owe it to yourself to see this film. If you do not, and you have grandchildren, you should explain to them why you decided not to.

I plan to see the film.
